My vision quest was so vast, so challenging, so mystical, so.. what even was that? so increíble.. that i can’t imagine deducing it to a post or two. this prayer and initiation of the lakota // mishixa tribe is profound. ooooold. ancestral. elemental. sacrifice. wisdom..

i’m so excited to keep studying this walk. i’m excited to have begun my training to pour temezcals (sweat lodges). something that will take atleast 3 more years.. likely more.. as it should. i love walking slow and gathering my skills as a medicine woman through years of deep study with teachers and elders. so grateful to each one that has touched my life. i love walking through these initiations for myself and finding out through patience and integration the diamonds in this work.

i’m so proud of myself. i’m so … full of life and gratitude and silliness and ….. 12 other feelings all at once …

i will say that on day 3 (out of 4) of no food or water or shelter or anything but myself… i was like “damn i’m the craziest person i know why am i like this” lol..

i don’t fully know how to explain what i went through on the mountain.. or how to express how good this was for me physically, spiritually, + emotionally

what i do know is this man pictured was there to help me pack my car and coordinate everythingggg, fill my home with food and love for my return.. and has been here to start hearing my stories, gently opening the space for me to unpack all this… so gentle like you always are with me..

this is my bestfriend, my team mate , my love.. together we are growing up.. moving into the next phase of life.. for both of us.. so much change and mystery..

thanks for coming to me on the mountain and laying next to me the night of the eclipse (as a vision). i felt your hands touch my face like they do.. and tell me you love me completely.. something i can’t remember anyone else ever gifting me. thank you brandon. thank you vision quest.

i hope to find a way that feels good and true to share more about my vision quest experience.. i want to uplift this work and those doing it. let’s see what happens. i’m looking forward to it.

the video shared was taken in april.. the morning my dieta closed.. so tired and so full of life. what a magical thing the shipibo tribe do.

as i head into my next adventure in a couple days i remember what these types of initiations and processes keep gifting me..

uninterrupted time to pray and receive spiritual insight + healing care from the earth, god, and my own soul.

questions i hadn’t thought to think are currently rising up from my spirit.. humbling wisdom is trying to teach me.. i need to be alone now..

i am privileged to know of these sort of experiences and somehow find myself able to have them.. it is only with a high level of focus and devotion that i am able to keep returning. i thank myself for showing up over and over and over again.

i thank my friends, family, my dog, and my beloved for the love that gets me through. supported so deeply.. i am safe to travel far knowing there is a loving home awaiting my return

4 days no food, no water, no shelter.. nothing but you, the clothes on your back, a plastic tarp.. in just one week i head up the mountain to vision quest.

4 nights of prayer, solitude, stillness..

my intent is deeply personal.. what i can share is that i want to know myself beyond the help of any plant, animal, healer, environment, stimuli.. i want to know who i am when i have had no input to comfort me.. who am i when i dive deep inside and am the hand that soothes? what is it like to drink my own medicine?

i choose to quest for the health benefits.. your body is in ketosis after 24 hours of no food and water. it eats all the sick and excess. my chronic illness yearns to eat itself up. i can feel my bodys longing to heal.

i choose to quest to have uninteruptted time to pray. over the last 14 months i have been without my phone or talking to anyone for about 25 days while in the jungle or questing. i crave that time away. just me and the divine spirit..

i want to cry. something in me hurts. even after all this work. i feel myself generally well.. yet something just hurts. without food or conversation or stimuli.. emotions all pour out to be digested.. nothing pushes them down.. i want to feel.

i am scared.
this work scares me.
it is hard.
i can’t do this trying to prove anything
i don’t do it with force

i do it because i love myself and i love life.
i do it for the love of prayer.
i do it because i believe in the power of sacrifice.
i believe in the power of nature.
i believe in solitude. i trust this.
i rise to meet the challenge my soul calls out to meet.

for personal reasons next week i start with a new group(i last quested in colombia in january), in a new country, i commit to 4 years of questing.. one year for each direction, each element.. i follow the mexica tradition. a mexican tribe with aztec origins.

this is a mysterious right of passage that has humbled me deeply. it challanges who you think you are.. what you think you need to be okay. i am still learning so much… i am a true beginner on the red path

I drew the wise, beautiful, generous, lover of life, overcomer of obstacles, medicine woman sister of mine Keelia for her birthday. It was my first time ever using colored pencils two days before lol. I made sure to draw her with toé (datura) a master plant teacher we had the honor of doing deep work with in the jungle together. powerful stuff. love you keels.

i have been working on this cover of Agüita by Juan Quintero y Julian Herreros Rivera for a few months.. 💧🦋the entire song is so beautiful.. a poem that expresses love to water, observación of it’s existence, and asks it to bless all of life… we can’t live without you agüita!

my favorite line translates to : water of every single drop.. if you have no owner and you never will.. if you have already moved through the entire universe.. i don’t even know who would dare try..

may all being have access to clean water. water for the people. protect the water. may we always remember to bless the waters, get blessed by them, love the rain, and learn from water to allow all emotions, all waves, and all of life to flow as it will.

i thought being a medicine woman and a (hot) lively, wild, freedom focused artist were somehow at odds. this year has been the one to teach me that I can exist in all parts of my being..

if i existed in one box i would be depressed and lonely. if i tried to limit myself to one lifestyle i wouldn’t actually be living my greatest valué — which is freedom to be exactly who i am and let + teach others to do the same.

these photos are from january to april of this past year haha.. they tell a sweet story..

>> THE TRAVELER : i miss my blue hair. here’s me in a cabaña in the sierra nevada of colombia.. not having spoken english unless on the phone for almost 2 months.. trying on the wares that i bought and sold to pay for 4 months of travel in south américa

>> THE LOVER : photo in the woods of vermont with my love.. we separated for a while (he says it was 6 months lol i have a whole podcast about our breakup) but our love has been vibrant and growing for over 3 years. i have totally transformed because of this love in the best ways. brandon is my best friend, my forever buddy.. anyone who knows us knows the magic. it’s amazing to be in such a union as the one we have built and are building. a love that keeps giving <3

>> THE STUDENT : in dieta with my maestra in peru.. oh my goddddd the inner work this took. the focus. the solitude the vomitting. wow. i went with intent to heal my chronic illness. my body hurt and i felt exhausted for 10 days straight. i learned so much about myself. if my chronic illness was a 10 before this experience it is now at a 4. i fucking did that.. and aya, the plants, kambo, and the shipibo healing masters of peru did that. i’m so grateful.

>>THE EVENT CURATOR : serving cacao and performing as a musician .. collaborating with Coco in creating art spaces like we have been for the past decade since we met in college.

>>THE HEALER : i love holding ceremony space. organizing medicine retreats is a blessing. pictured is keelia, my medicine sister who often helps out.
